Mrs. Vijaya Laxmi

Mrs. Vijaya Laxmi was an extremely dedicated lady with a big heart for service. She took a training course on smokeless gas stoves and biogas by Aditi in 1995. From this time henceforth, she swore to create awareness about these matters among other women. It is at this point when she started issuing smoke-free cookers through Samta Gram Seva Sansthan where she worked.
On top of that, the rights activist also learnt about Tuberculosis (TB) care and put all her efforts into sensitising people on its prevention methods. Every year during the International Women’s Day celebrations, Vijaya held conferences touching on
different issues affecting females in order to empower them.
Moreover, this great woman taught girls should understand more about their bodies as well as personal cleanliness while menstruating and eventually became General Secretary at Samta Gram Seva Sansthan in 2010 due to selflessness towards others.
In addition; founding Dalit Chakra organisation alongside being Research Officer for IPAS Development Foundation were some of the things she did until death knocked at her doorstep but not before enlightening medical practitioners together with government officials on MTP ACT 1971 among other laws which promote safe abortions thus reducing mortality rates associated with unsafe ones.
