A government school teacher in Bihar, Harendra Rajak, was sent to jail for allegedly telling children in his class “Nobody should vote for Modi”. A written complaint was filed against him by family members of several students.
SSP Muzaffarpur According to Rakesh Kumar, Rajak was taken into custody after District Education Officer (DEO) Ajay Kumar Singh filed a formal complaint alleging that Rajak had violated the election model code of behavior. DEO Singh stated that family members of kids had complained to him about Rajak, who was employed at the government secondary school in Kurhani block of Amrakh.
The family members submitted a written complaint that the teacher was asking children not to vote for Modi since foodgrains unfit for human consumption were being distributed under the free ration scheme,” said Singh.
“Several boys and girls from the class also confirmed that Rajak had been saying such things inside the classroom. Prima facie it violated the model code of conduct which forbids any government employee from trying to influence poll outcomes by speaking for or against any political party. Hence, he added that the FIR was lodged against the teacher for needful action.
