The Pant Nagar police on Monday had registered a case against Bhinde under sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

The local police and the criminal section organized about ten squads to find and capture Bhinde shortly after the offense was reported. When the police went to his Mulund West apartment, they discovered he had already left the city. On Tuesday night, his last mobile location was located in Lonavala.

The police claimed that Bhinde had driven from Mumbai to Lonavala and back to Shil Phata in Thane. He then took a train to Ahmedabad before hopping on a bus to Udaipur. He arrived in Udaipur on Wednesday night and made his hotel reservation. Deputy Commissioner of Police Datta Nalawade stated that the man was being pursued by the crime branch, which ultimately resulted in his arrest on Thursday night at the hotel. On Friday, Bhinde will be brought to Mumbai by the police, where he will appear in a metropolitan magistrate court.
