Voting Across 49 Constituencies In Eight Regions To Seal Fate Of 695 Candidates

On May 20, the voting will take place in Maharashtra, Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Ladakh, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
The Lok Sabha elections saw a decline in voter turnout in the fourth phase.

The fate of 695 candidates including some prominent ministers and MPs will be sealed when people from 49 constituencies across six states and two Union territories will vote on May 20.

The Lok Sabha elections saw a decline in voter turnout in the fourth phase. Approximately 67.25% of voting was seen in 96 constituencies in ten states and Union territories. This is just lower than the 68.8% turnout recorded in 2019. There has been a pattern in the earlier stages as well: a decrease in voter turnout, 66.14 percent of voters cast ballots in the first round, which is a decrease from 69.89 percent in 2019.

The percentage of voters in Jammu and Kashmir increased significantly from 14.39% in 2019 to 37.98% this time. Odisha and Telangana also saw modest rises. Telangana saw 64.74 percent, up from 62.69 percent in 2019, and Odisha witnessed 73.97 percent, up from 73.95 percent in the previous year. Polling was reported to be peaceful by the Election Commission, with some polling places remaining open past 6 p.m. to accommodate voters who were still in line. 1.92 lakh voting places and 17.7 crore eligible voters participated in this phase overall.
