Brazil Starving For Food And Water

Brazil is fighting a tough shot on the hit of one of the worst horrifying floods in 80 years due to the tremendous amount of rainfall in the region. Approximately 1.5 lakh people go homeless. The flood damage was estimated at 19 billion reais as stated by Governor Eduardo Leite affirms. The fiscal (financial) loss is said to be estimated by the federal government of Brazil at about 7.7 billion reais. The pattern of rainfall is supposed to have been generated from the “El Nino effect”- El Nino is a warm ocean current that arises in the Pacific Ocean and brings rainfall to Southern Brazil.

Rio Grande do Sul was hit by a dreadful storm.  Around 136 people are still missing, A horse was rescued from the rooftop of a house after the flood.  Approximately 1.65 Lakh people remain trapped in homes after heavy rainfall for days. The flood has largely damaged the infrastructure including bridges, buildings, ports and the likes. The whole of Southern Brazil is in a mess. Water is all around but can’t be consumed for drinking.

Alexander Ramos, a citizen says “everything had been washed away by the flood”. “We tried waiting as long as we could but there was no chance, the army came and rescued us as well as our dogs”

Climate change has been a burning issue. Countries have signed climate agreements like the Paris Agreement, The Kyoto Protocol, Cartangena Protocol, besides the UN itself has meetings over climate change. But nature is taking charge of the manifold deeds. The governements of all countries must seriously discuss and find solution to stop this in urgent time.
