External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, along with his wife Kyoko Jaishankar, attended the Europe Day celebration in Delhi and expressed his gratitude to everyone through ‘X’. (formerly known as Twitter)
In his recent post, he stated, “Pleased to attend Europe Day celebrations in New Delhi. India-EU relations are consequential not only for us but also for the world. Our expanded exchanges, deeper economic ties, stronger technology cooperation and increased people-to-people connect tell their own story. Confident that this partnership would grow further in the times ahead” He expressed his confidence that the partnership would grow further, which would help India as a country and also the world.
India’s external affairs minister was invited as a chief guest to the event, which took place on May 9 every year to celebrate peace and harmony in Europe.
Describing the relationship between India and the EU, the External Affairs Minister said that we are not just economic partners, but the ties are very deep in many domains.

While addressing the event, Jaishankar said, “It is an entity with which we have really, a very deep relationship, spanning many domains… not just in the relationship between New Delhi and Brussels but in the regional and sub-regional formats in which we engage each other and in a range of institutions that we both are members of and where we collaborate with each other. And of course, an important element of that is the economic relationship.
Jaishankar said that the need of the hour is to build more reliable supply chains between countries with transparency, which will help us boost our respective economies.
Jaishankar felicitated the EU’s ambassador to India, Herve Delphin, and said, “As a country that chaired the G20, we very much appreciated the value and contribution that the EU and individual European States made to the G20.”
