Shikhar Dhawan Hints At Retirement Amid Shoulder Injury Recovery

Shikhar Dhawan discusses about his retirement in an interview with ANI after having undergone with a shoulder injury on April 9.

Dhawan said, “I am also going through a transition ‘Jahan Meri Cricket Vishram Pe Aayegi’ and a new chapter in my life will start. You only have a certain age till you can play. It could be one year more, two years more or xyz for me…” in an interview with ANI. Dhawan added, “Unfortunately, I got injured this IPL season and could not play for Punjab except for 4-5 matches. It takes time to recover. I am still healing. I have not recovered 100 per cent yet”.

Shikhar Dhawan has played 5 games for the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2024 and has made 152 in 5 matches of IPL 2024. Punjab Kings faces knock down by 60 runs from Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Dharamsala. PBKS lost their stance after losing Dhawan from the team.

After an outstanding performance with Delhi Capitals (DC) Dhawan had joined the Punjab Kings. Opener Dhawan suffered shoulder injury against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 9. Replacing Dhawan, England player Sam Curran was taken to the ground as a leader of PBKS.

Shikhar Dhawan is likely to take retirement after T20I series IND VS IRE. India vs Ireland is to take place on August 18, 20, and 23.

Along with Dhawan, player Dinesh Karthik is also in the list who is likely to take retirement. After ICC World Cup 2019, he was out for 4  years. However, he is back in IPL series and will also play in T20I series as right handed batsman.

The other player in the list is Ravichandran Ashwin. The off- spinner is regular member of the side test matches. He is the 2nd wicket taker in India for tests. He may end his career after the IND vs IRE T20I Series.
