Modi To Take Oath As Prime Minister For Third Term

PM Narendra Modi is to take oath as the Prime Minister of India of the third time on Sunday, June 9 at around 7:15 pm.

An official, “The President will administer the Oath of Office and Secrecy to the Prime Minister and other members of the Union Council of Ministers on June 9, 2024 at 07:15 pm (1345 GMT)”.

Though there is no official confirmation from the Union Cabinet of the assigned portfolios. However, according to the sources a few party would get their portfolios at the Centre. JDU leaders Lalan Singh and Ram Nath Thakur is expected to be assigned minister’s post in the Union Cabinet. While TDP’s ( Telugu Desam Party) Chandrababu Naidu is expected to be allotted 4 portfolios in the Union Cabinet, including Ram Mohan Naidu, Harish Balayogi and Daggumalla Prasad. NDA’s biggest allies are JD(U) (Janata Dal United) wining 12 seats and TDP’s (Telugu Desam Party) wining 16 seats and these two party played a critical role in forming NDA government.

According the reports by Financial Express, Nitish Kumar – JDU would negotiate the post of the Railway minister having win 12 Lok Sabha seats. Asking about the allocation of the portfolio of Nitish Kumar, MP Lovely Anand of Sheohar, Bihar said, “Yes, it certainly should be given, it has always happened. Bihar should also get special status”. Besides it, JD(S) leader Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy is expected to given a portfolio in Agriculture.

After the results of the Lok Sabha polls on June 4, NDA won 293 seats leaving INDI bloc at 232 seats. Winning the majority seats became possible for NDA (National Democratic Alliance) with the support of the two major allies TDP (Telugu Desam Party) and JDU (Janata Dal United). As BJP  did not cross the majority- 272 seats. It is the NDA who crossed the majority. NDA is set to form the government this weekend. NDA needs support from its two allies who is emerging to be a crucial for making the NDA government.
