CM Mamata Banerjee told reporters after a meeting that she would be pleased if the NDA is removed from power which she calls “weak and unstable”. CM said, “The BJP is forming the government undemocratically and illegally. Today INDIA bloc may not have staked a claim to form government, but doesn’t mean they won’t tomorrow. Let’s wait for some time”. CM added, “The NDA government to be formed will be unstable. BJP has not secured majority; they are dependent on allies. Let’s see how long they can get along with their allies”.

CM has faith that INDI bloc would form a government in the coming days. CM also shows support to INDI bloc saying that though TMC exited from INDI bloc in West Bengal but TMC would remain a part of INDI alliance at the National level. CM believes that NDA will not complete its tenure. Also CM says PM to handover the government in safer hands as Nation wants changes. CM says, “The country needs change; the country wants change. This mandate was for change. We are waiting and keeping a watch on the situation”. According to CM Mamata Banerjee, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will look forward to abolish the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act).

Even West Bengal CM will not attend the oath ceremony of the new government. CM said, “This Lok Sabha is not going to be like the previous two Lok Sabhas where they passed bills as they had brute majority. Our MPs will demand the repeal of CAA. We don’t want any NRC or Uniform Civil Code. We will raise our demand for the release of due funds of the State.” Also CM mentioned of Sudip Bandyopadhyay to be the leader of the party in Lok Sabha and Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar will be the Deputy Leader of Lok Sabha of TMC.
In the Lok Sabha election 2024 results on June 4, While TMC won 29 seats in West Bengal, BJP wins 12 seats and Congress 1 seat.
