Phase 4 of Lok Sabha is over with the polling across 96 seats in 9 states and 1 Union Territory.
The nine states are as follows:
Andhra Pradesh – 25 Parliament Constituencies
Bihar – 5 Parliament Constituencies
Jharkhand – 4 Parliament Constituencies
Madhya Pradesh – 8 Parliament Constituencies
Maharashtra – 11 Parliament Constituencies
Odisha – 4 Parliament Constituencies
Telangana – 17 Parliament Constituencies
Uttar Pradesh – 13 Parliament Constituencies
West Bengal – 8 Parliament Constituencies
(Union Territory) Jammu and Kashmir – 1 Parliament Constituency
Till 3 pm, 52.6% of voting was recorded. Jammu and Kashmir’s election is being held in the Srinagar constituency. However, polling at Anantnag and Rajouri will be held on May 25.
Around 1717 candidates are contesting in the fourth phase of the election.
The opposition questioned the Election Commission of India after he sent notices to both the parties – BJP ( Bharatiya Janata Party) and Congress after controversial comments by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Rahul Gandhi.
The opposition party contesting is Trinamool Congress’s Mohua Moitra. She has been suspended over the alleged “cash for question”. There has been a clash between the parties in West Bengal. CPM workers and Trinamool Congress supporters were injured. The conflict happened in Bardhaman and Durgapur seat.
In, the Bhadradri Kothagudem district in the State of Telangana, a government employee lost life due to a heart attack.
The counting of the votes will be done on 4th of June.
