IMD Forecasts Heavy Rain, Storms In Northeast And Coastal Regions

The weather in the northeastern states is predicted to be influenced by a cyclonic circulation that is currently over northeast Assam and strong winds from the Bay of Bengal that are blowing from the southwest and south. The IMD predicts storms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) over the next five days in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim. There will also be light to moderate rainfall across a fairly wide area.

Isolated heavy rainfall is predicted for Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim from June 6 to 10. Arunachal Pradesh will likely experience heavy rainfall from June 8 to 10, and Nagaland on June 10.

Over the next five days, the IMD predicts light to moderate rainfall that is moderately widespread to widespread, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40–50 kmph) in Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Saurashtra & Kutch, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, and Karnataka. From June 6 to 8, similar weather is predicted in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, and Kerala & Mahe.


From June 6 to 10, there is a chance of isolated, intense rainfall in Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada. June 6–9 will bring heavy rain to interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe; June 8–9, and 10 to coastal Karnataka; June 6–7 to Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal; June 6–9, and 10 to coastal Andhra Pradesh; June 6–10 to Telangana; and June 6–7 to Rayalaseema.

On June 6, isolated hailstorms are probably possible in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. June 6 and 7 are predicted to bring patches of light rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40–50 kmph) to Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. On June 6, there will be dust storms across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan on June 6 and 7. On June 7, there’s a good chance of an isolated hailstorm over West Rajasthan.
