Hero Dog Saves Boy From Storm-Collapsed House In Satpurad

It has been verily reported that the boy, Shantilal’s parents, and siblings failed to survive after an under-construction structure collapsed during a fierce storm in Thorpani village of Satpura region on Sunday. The tragedy occurred when their house, made of metal sheet, collapsed around 8 pm during a fierce storm in the remote Thorpani village of Satpura region.

It has surfaced that Imami, the stray dog, taken care of by the family, turned out to be the hero in rescuing the only member left from the family. Imami awakened the villagers who rushed to rescue eight-year-old Shantilal trapped under the debris. The dog also dug a small hole under the debris to give room for Shantilal to breathe, said Mohanmala Nazirkar, Tehsildar of Yawal Taluka in the district.

Shantilal was reported to be rescued with some with minor scrapes. The IAS functionary said that the family would have survived had the family stayed in their slush-bamboo hut, as the structure was complete with winds passing through the gaps in bamboo sticks. “It’s rather unfortunate that they rushed to this under-construction structure to cover themselves from the winds,” said Yadav, District Collector. Ayush Prasad said Shantilal’s grandparents who work as sugarcane shanks in far-out Pune and Solapur have been made his legal guardian by the Child Welfare Committee. “

Shantilal is the sole survivor of his immediate family. We could complete the paperwork within 24 hours without the need for the family to go to any court or indeed make an operation. We have also submitted an offer for compensation to the Relief and Rehabilitation Department, ” Prasad said. Meanwhile, Imami, the hero- dog, has also escaped with only minor injuries. Still, the canine seems to have run to the touching timbers, “ presumably to find a safe space to heal from any injuries ”, said Shamkant Patil, Assistant Commissioner of Animal Husbandry Department. “ We had sent a veterinarian to the village to check and treat him. But we couldn’t find him, ” Patil added.

Bhusawal MLA Sanjay Sawkare who visited the spot said that climate change was responsible for the tragedy as the village had now endured analogous high winds. “ We must help make farther climate flexible communities, ” he said.
