Egypt’s Al Qahera News TV, citing a high-level source, said that the respect for treaties does not prevent it from using “all scenarios to preserve its national security and the historical rights of Palestinians”.
In 1979, Egypt and Israel had signed a peace treaty and have always cooperated on the security of their border. However, there is an increase in tension between Egypt and Israel due to the Israeli Military Operation around the city of Rafah, which is located at the southern end of Gaza Strip, across the border from Egypt.
Cairo, the capital of Egypt, has given a forewarning that their relations with Israel can be reduced due to Israel’s campaign in Gaza. It states that the offensive in Rafah is impeding the use of Rafah crossing for delivering urgently needed Humanitarian aid into Gaza.
Egyptian security sources stated that Egypt is against the presence of Israel in the crossing and wants them to pull back after Israel claimed its control over it on May 7th. Egypt has conveyed its concern that the Palestinians could be pushed across its borders due to Israel’s continuous campaigns.
It has also expressed its objection to the dislocation of Palestinians and is shielding their historical rights.
