Recently, PM Narendra Modi had said that the World was unknown of Mahatma Gandhi till he appeared in Oscar- winning 1982 film by Richard Attenborough.

“Albert Einstein, one of the greatest and the most influential scientist of all time with an unknown person. Unfortunately Albert Einstein would never know the identity of this unknown person as he died in 1955 much before film was released,”.

PM’s comment aroused controversies. A prophetic cartoon by RK Laxman goes viral as a response to Modi’s comment. The cartoon showcases a politician walking out of the cinema of Richard Attenborough- “Gandhi” who say “Very moving. I understand it is a true life story”. The animation tried to comment on the Congress. And it was a wrong depiction turning the down the Mahatma Gandhi’s role in history for India’s freedom struggle.

Mahatma Gandhi had led the Civil Disobedience against the British Empire. He led Dandi March, Swadeshi movement, Satyagarha movement. His contribution can never be forgotten in our history. Later he was killed by Nathuram Godse who guns down Gandhi in New Delhi on Januray 30, 1948.

“Generation to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this Earth” wrote Gandhi in his book “Einstein on peace”.
