The Classic Football Academy made the best use of set piece moves to hold on to the AIFF U17 Elite Youth League 2023-24, beating Sudeva Delhi FC 2-1 at the Nagoa Panchayat Ground, Goa. The two teams gave out a lively display of attacking football, leading to the delight of the crowd.
The Classic, the team from Manipur, were more direct in their approach and it made the difference. After the unfruitful first half, Classic opened the scoring in the 49th minute when they converted off a corner kick from the left. Considering the Classic’s approach, the Delhi side should have been more careful. However, they didn’t learn from their mistake. Seven minutes later they again committed the error of allowing Samson enough space with another corner kick.

This time the ball came from the right and Samson evaded his marker to note the target with a simple header. Sudeva were not ready to take things lying down and they pulled one back in the 60th minute. A combined move from the right saw Khongsai cross inside the area for substitute Gaurav Kumar to head in.
Thereafter the game turned interesting with Sudeva making all efforts to restore uniformity and consistency. However, Classic with a strong defence held on to their lead till the end.
