Alert For Rain, Strong Winds Along With Dust Storms In Delhi-NCR: IMD

A Dust storm along with strong winds and rain is likely to hit regions including Delhi NCR and its adjoining areas. The areas which are likely to be affected include Loni Dehat, Hindon Air Force Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, Ballabgarh as well as Gohana, Gannaur, Sonipat, Rohtak and Kharkhoda in Haryana and Baraut , Baghpat and Khekra in Uttar Pradesh according to the Indian Meteorological Department.

The IMD said in its alert that strong winds along with rain may cause damage to crops weak structures, and kutcha houses, and urged people to take necessary precautions. The department has advised people to stay indoors with closed windows and doors and avoid unnecessary travel.

IMD stated that Delhi will be experiencing a varied weather pattern over the next week. People of Delhi expect a thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and rain on 11th May 2024 followed by similar weather on 12th and 13th May 2024. By the 14th of May, it is expected to change to a partly cloudy sky. However, on 15th May Delhi is anticipated to experience a clear sky.

According to IMD, there are high chances of rain both on Saturday and Sunday, the minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to be around 39 and 29 degrees Celsius respectively.

On Friday night Delhi police received 150 calls related to tree uprooting, 55 calls related to building damage, and 202 calls related to power disruption.

After scorching heat for the past few months, Delhi is expected to witness a major thunderstorm which may cause traffic disruptions and flight diversions too .
